Mr John Johnson (Objects)

Comment submitted date: Mon 03 Oct 2016

The original planning application for this development was dismissed by the office of the Secretary of State, on appeal, due mainly to massing and bulk of the proposed dwellings, with the pair of dwellings occupying almost the full width of the plot and little space available for planting to soften the built form.

Subsequently, having been given approval following the submission of new plans for a smaller development, the developer has now removed all of the mature trees on the site and submitted further planning applications for additional buildings to extend the bulk of that smaller development.

My primary objection, therefore, is that each of these proposed extensions has increased the bulk of the dwellings and the most recent one, an extension to the south of the development, would take the buildings right up to the boundary again, leaving no room for any planting to soften the built form and adding yet another, single-storey but with a pitched roof, building to an already crowded development.

The latest plans do not show the newly built double garage, again with a pitched roof, in the remainder of the garden of 198 Stoughton Road (despite the plans showing every other garage for surrounding properties), which added to the extra building proposed in the latest planning application, will result in an overbearing and crowded effect when viewed from my property and surrounding properties.

I also note on the plans the addition of three parking spaces in the garden of 198 Stoughton Road, situated between the new garage and the boundary with the new development, which are to be shared by the residents of the new development with those of no.198 and which, with the shared use of the large, newly built drive in the garden of no.198, will result in a considerable increase in noise and vehicular activity in an already cramped space, completely out of keeping with the character and more spacious layout of the surrounding area and properties.
