Call to update Guildford's bloated Local Plan to meet climate emergency

We the undersigned petition Guildford Borough Council to review and update its Local Plan urgently in order to limit the scale of house building in the borough to no more than 20% above the objectively assessed housing need and to do this by removing a minimum of two strategic sites, which will include Blackwell Farm and the Wisley site allocations (Sites A26, A27 and A35), from the Local Plan and to return these to the green belt. This request is in line with the agenda to protect against climate change and as a result of new windfall housing opportunities (such as the Debenhams site). This will protect the environment and farmland and prevent the unnecessary expansion of the town and further congestion and pollution due to road traffic.
